The first edition of one of Cameroon’s pioneer environmental magazines, Voice of Nature Magazine, is out. This Magazine, which was published in February 2022 as a complement to Cameroon’s emerging environmental online news platform, Voice of Nature News: https://voiceofnaturenews.info/ has as slogan: “Speaking for Nature and the Voiceless”. It seeks to transcend the traditional workshop and politics-centered news, and move to interior forest communities and bring to the limelight local biodiversity conservation and sustainable development challenges and community solutions (traditional knowledge), while reconnecting local communities to innovative solutions to global environmental challenges affecting them.
The maiden edition focuses on climate change, youth empowerment and engagement in environmental protection, and biodiversity conservation. It has well investigated, educative and inspiring articles like Reversing Climate Change; Children on the Frontline, Nurture for Nature, Human-Elephant Co-existence in Mount Cameroon: How Possible? and Coping Mechanisms for Farmers as Climate Change Surge amongst others.
According to the Publisher and Managing Director of this Magazine, Ndimuh B. Shancho, its production is motivated by the desire to reach out to interior communities and other key environmental stakeholders who may not be able to readily access the online environmental news site, Voice of Nature News, for timely environment and conservation news.
Just like the Voice of Nature News site launched in 2018 as an environment and conservation non-profit news platform, Voice of Nature Magazine has come to raise awareness on environmental issues, stimulate debate and promote responsible natural resource management while grooming future environmental journalists. It will contribute to amplifying the voice of nature via investigative reporting, updates and analysis on climate change, species & ecosystems, environment, agriculture, religion & culture, health, and society. It will be published twice a year.
Voice of Nature News and Voice of Nature Magazine are all productions of a Cameroon-based biodiversity conservation and sustainable development non-profit organization, Voice of Nature (VoNat). This Organization is dedicated to building a greener, safer and more sustainable planet.
