Four Communities in Buea Benefit from CWASAF’s Cleanup Campaign

Four communities in the Buea Municipality have benefitted from the cleanup and environmental protection sensitization campaign of Clean Water and Sanitation Africa, (CWASAF). These communities include;  Moli in Buea town, Limbe quarter in Molyko, the Ndongo community and Muea.

The Founder/Executive Director of CWASA, Mr. Sam Sukpa, who engaged 30 interns and volunteers per group, for the cleanup and sensitization exercise, said the campaign sought to educate these communities on proper waste disposal for environmental protection. The CWASAF boss frowned at improper waste management and uncontrollable litter in the Buea Municipality, and the use of grass killer chemicals around water catchment areas seriously, which according to him, “damages the ecosystem we live in”.

In consonance with its vision of revamping nature for posterity and community development, the non-profit organization prides itself with the dismantling of a dumping site at the UB junction, which now serves as a market at UB junction today. The Koke, Miss Bright, and Mile17 neighbourhoods have also benefited from the cleanup campaign of CWASAF. “Land is scarce, the little that is available must be safeguarded for posterity,” Mr.  Sam Sukpa advises.

He also entreated community leaders to support environmental protection and cleanup initiatives, while expressing discontent at the indiscriminate disposal of household wastes. “Disposing of waste should be done directly to waste collection truck, that periodically moves into the quarters with alert hoots,” the CWASAF leader opined.

CWASAF has also been infusing the culture of proper waste management in youths within the Buea Municipality.  The Organization believes that a committed person can bring positive change to the community.
