Public Health Expert Prescribes Medicinal Plants, Fruits Against COVID19

Cameroonian Professor of Public Health and Biotechnology, HRM Professor Wilfred Mbacham, has prescribed medicinal plants and fruits in Cameroon that can be used for the treatment of the deadly pandemic, coronavirus (COVID19). Speaking on the national radio, April 20, 2020, the public health expert cited lemongrass (fever grass,) bitter leaf, aloe vera, moringa, baobab powder, and Soursop amongst others as plants that can be used in treating coronavirus.

Professor Mbacham also recommended the eating of fruits rich in zinc and vitamin C like citrus fruits, tomatoes, pawpaw, cauliflower and others. “I will add these to my daily intake so that if there is anything that is COVID, I should be able to beat it down,” he stated.

This counsel is coming at a time when over 1,163 persons in Cameroon have been infected by the virus with 43 dead. Meanwhile, 329 have recovered as of April 21, 2020.
