The Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea, Professor Ngomo Horace Manga, has called on newly stalled Deputy Vice Chancellors, Registrar, Deans, and Director Students Affairs to desist from mixing politics with academics in the discharge of their duty as they take up their new post of responsibility in the University. While installing these officials, at the Dorothy Limunga Njeuma Amphi Theatre of the University of Buea, September 10, 2019, he reiterated that the university remains apolitical.
The UB boss congratulated the nine newly installed officials on the confidence bestowed on them by the Head of State through their appointment, August 27, 2019, situating their appointment in context. “In order to meet up with present and future challenges, it’s normal for the government to review its human and material resources to adapt to institutions. UB is no exception to this reality and this has become even more urgent in the prevailing socio-political context,” he said.
According to the VC, the present appointments reflect the will of the Head of State to infuse the leadership of the University of Buea with new dynamism; men and women, who will keep the institution resolutely focused on research and outreach activities. He wished those going on retirement like Professor Mrs. Tunde Njikam Martha, and Professor Epah Fonkeng George “ the best of life, rest and good health”.
Barely 14 days after their appointments, the newly installed UB officials, already have a mastery of their terms of reference. “As a Registrar, I will ensure that students records, matters that concern the day to day performance and life of the student body of the University of Buea are firmly under my control. I am here to serve the teaching staff of UB; giving the challenges teaching staff face in dispensing their primary call to teach and managing students’ record, my service will be put at their disposal. I am there to dispense the vision of the VC, who is on a mission to effect the bigger agenda of the Head of State in ensuring that UB meets the mandate of Cameroon’s emergence,” said Professor Ernest Moloua, newly installed Registrar of the University of Buea.
The Registrar also has a special message for the students of UB. “I am telling students that our doors shall be open for them, we shall listen to their challenges ensure that any challenge that any student face on this campus will be corrected immediately,” he said.
